The present course, Reading Techniques I, is addressed to first year student at teacher education colleges (ENS). It aims at exploring the nature of the reading comprehension and the reading models. The course will also cover plenty of basics relative to EFL reading (e.g., getting the learners ready to read, reading fluency, differentiating between reading skills and strategies). Needless to say, the instruction will not be only theoretical; the course sessions will be accompanied by tutorials, where the learners will have the chance to practice reading and get exposed to a variety of reading genres (e.g., academic, literary, poetic, informal/formal emails, reports).

The course will comprise ten lessons that will allow the learner to explore the nature of reading comprehension, raise their awareness about the reading strategies and the importance of implementing them in combination, practice reading and reading strategies, engage in projects to develop autonomous reading and learning autonomy (e.g., reading fluency and extensive reading projects), among others.
